The best way to get started with Hubbly is to follow the guidance on the homepage 'Get Started' section. There you can find the basic guidance to sign-up, adding places and friends, creating lists, and more. The more friends you have in your network the more you get out of Hubbly. When adding a new place that is not yet in Hubbly database, there will be a category-specific default image attached to the place. Users are encouraged to add their own photos for the places in Place Info screen by tapping 'Share your experience' and adding a photo with '+' icon. You can get to Place Info screen through many ways: search, by tapping the place information on the 'Picked places nearby' list on the homescreen twice or in full map view tapping the highlihted place pin to enter the infobox at the bottom.
On the homescreen you'll find 'Picked places nearby' list minimized when opening the app. You can swipe that up to halfway or fullscreen mode. As a default that list always includes places you and your network have stored within 10 miles/16 km radius. If you zoom it or out 'Search places here' button becomes visible and tapping that changes the radius accordingly and lists your network's places within the new radius.
Picked places list includes a place image, either default image, user added or Hubbly added. There is a small user's image on top of the place image. That tells you who in your network was the first one who added the place to Hubbly. The number bubble next to the user's image is the number of other people in your network who also have picked the place.
Next to the place image you have the name of the place and basic information about it followed by a distance to the place from your current location. The places on the list are sorted based on the distance, nearest being the first one.
Browsing the map is easiest just by moving it. For longer distance changes it is recommended to use white pin button on the map and enter a city to move the map to.
The homescreen map has a button with arrows up and down. That toggles you between standard homescreen view with a combination of a map and list, and full map view.
On the top of the homescreen you can find a filter icon. Tapping that allows you to filter to one or many of your friends in the network, or your own places only. Please remember to return to untap the filter when you want to again see all.
Hubbly was born to our own frustration of not having reliable recommendations when visiting new locations. There are many ways of storing places but what we felt was missing was a solution to seamlessly share those places to people you know. That is the essence of Hubbly.
